Effective Body Language in Healthcare Speeds Up Recovery

The opening lecture event of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Vocational School of Health Services took place with the participation of many academics from the university and more than 250 students. Prof. Dr. Taşkın Kılıç, Vice Dean and Lecturer of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ordu University, attended the event as the guest of honor and delivered an inspiring presentation titled “Body Language and Effective Communication Techniques” at the D Block Multi-Purpose Hall.

After the opening speech by Prof. Dr. Sevinç İnan, Director of IUE Vocational School of Health Services (SHMYO), Prof. Dr. Taşkın Kılıç took the stage to deliver his presentation where he emphasized the importance of body language in communication. Stating that body language and effective communication techniques in healthcare services particularly play a critical role in building trust with patients, reducing their anxiety, and positively affecting the treatment process, Prof. Dr. Kılıç said that properly used body language strengthens communication between the patient and healthcare professional and can speed up the recovery process.

STUDENTS GAINED AWARENESS

Explaining in detail how the correct use of gestures and facial expressions strengthens interpersonal interaction and what strategies should be followed for effective communication, Prof. Dr. Kılıç highlighted the power of body language in both professional and personal life. Thanks to the knowledge shared by Prof. Dr. Kılıç, students gained awareness of the importance of effective communication skills in their lives and professional careers. At the end of the event, Prof. Dr. Taşkın Kılıç was presented with a certificate of appreciation by SHMYO Director Prof. Dr. Sevinç İnan.

Author of works such as ‘Nasıl Başardılar?’ (How Did They Succeed?), ‘Güncel Yönetim Paradigmaları’ (Current Management Paradigms), ‘e-Sağlık ve Teletıp’ (e-Health and Telemedicine), ‘İnsanlar Başaklara Benzer’ (People Are Like Spikes), and ‘Altın Kalpli İnsanlar Ülkesi’ (The Country of Golden-Hearted People), and holder of six patents, Prof. Dr. Taşkın Kılıç also voluntarily gives seminars on success, self-confidence, entrepreneurship, leadership, body language, and branding in boarding schools, orphanages, prisons, and places of public benefit.
