VOCATIONAL SCHOOL OF HEALTH SERVICES
Department of Medical Imaging TechniquesABOUT US
Our program commenced its educational activities in 2015. To date, the program has graduated 182 students, while 79 students are currently continuing their education.
The duration of the Medical Imaging Techniques Program is two years.
The aim of the Medical Imaging Techniques Program is to graduate healthcare professionals who possess fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge, are research-oriented, problem-solving and team-oriented, closely follow technological developments, adopt a patient-centered care approach, and are capable of using all types of medical imaging technologies effectively and safely. The program also aims to train responsible professionals who contribute to the healthcare services of our country.
All theoretical courses within the program are delivered in technologically equipped classrooms and laboratories by experienced instructors at our university, while practical courses are conducted in partner hospitals and imaging centers. Throughout the program, students take foundational science courses such as anatomy, physiology, and physics, as well as professional courses including medical and radiological terminology and radiological anatomy, which familiarize them with professional terminology. They also receive instruction in professional subjects such as radiation safety and the structure and operation of imaging devices, along with communication and ethics courses oriented toward professional practice. Students strengthen their practice-oriented training through field applications during summer internships and are prepared for professional life.
Students who successfully complete the program are awarded the title of “Health Technician.” Graduates may, in accordance with relevant regulations, continue their education by passing the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) and pursue undergraduate studies in “Nursing” or “Nursing and Health Services.”
The increasing demand for this field is supported by several factors:
- The need for qualified healthcare personnel capable of operating medical imaging devices used in radiology departments for the diagnosis of diseases,
- The presence of radiology departments in almost all public hospitals in Turkey and the high demand for skilled personnel to operate imaging equipment,
- Employment opportunities under the Civil Servants Law No. 657 or in private healthcare institutions,
- Career development opportunities due to rapidly advancing imaging technologies,
- Flexible working conditions in healthcare institutions,
- Opportunities to work in both domestic and international universities and private hospitals.
These factors have significantly increased interest in the program.
We are pleased to welcome those who aim to build a career in this field to our program.
