VOCATIONAL SCHOOL OF HEALTH SERVICES
Department of Medical Laboratory TechniquesOur program commenced its educational activities in 2016. Since its establishment, the program has graduated 122 students, while 92 students are currently continuing their education. Following the completion of their associate degree education, one of our graduates successfully transferred to a bachelor's degree program through the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) and is continuing their studies. Currently, no students are enrolled in the Double Major Program (ÇAP).
The aim of the Medical Laboratory Techniques Program is to educate competent medical laboratory technicians who possess the fundamental knowledge and professional skills required to perform medical laboratory analyses requested by physicians accurately and reliably, thereby contributing to the diagnosis of diseases and the planning of treatments while ensuring high-quality healthcare services.
To train medical laboratory technicians, who hold an indispensable role within the healthcare team, the program offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes courses such as medical microbiology, biochemistry, hematology, laboratory chemistry, laboratory instrumentation, and parasitology. In addition to theoretical coursework, students have the opportunity to gain practical experience in the laboratories of the university as well as those of our affiliated institutions.
Although the language of instruction is Turkish, students who wish to do so may also benefit from an English preparatory program. This enables graduates to pursue career opportunities in healthcare institutions that provide services to international patients.
The Medical Laboratory Techniques Program provides its students with well-equipped laboratories designed to allow each student to perform laboratory applications individually and comfortably. These laboratories are specifically designed to help first-year students become familiar with laboratory environments and procedures. Beginning in the second year, students continue their practical training and internships in hospital settings, thereby developing the competencies required to become qualified medical laboratory technicians.
The program admits 24 students per cohort, allowing our academic staff to provide individualized instruction and guidance to each student during both classroom and laboratory sessions. Student-centered teaching methods that encourage active participation are employed throughout the courses.
Graduates of the program are awarded an Associate Degree Diploma in Medical Laboratory Techniques and are qualified as Health Technicians specializing in Medical Laboratory Techniques.
Graduates of this program may pursue careers in family health centers, public hospitals, university hospitals, private hospitals, private clinics, public health laboratories, dispensaries, private diagnostic centers, community health centers, family medicine units, in vitro fertilization (IVF) centers, and research institutions. They may also work as technicians in the research and development units of pharmaceutical companies, the food industry, and universities, as well as in the medical device sector. Furthermore, graduates may take the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) administered by ÖSYM and continue their education in bachelor's degree programs such as Biology, Bioengineering, Nursing, Nursing and Health Services, Molecular Biology, and Genetics.
We provide students who choose the Medical Laboratory Techniques Program with a high-quality educational experience through our well-equipped laboratories and experienced academic staff. We would be delighted to welcome you to our program.
