Internship Requirements and Procedures

During their education period, students are required to complete two separate compulsory internships in the outpatient clinics, inpatient clinics, administrative units, or archives of public or private hospitals. The compulsory internship consists of a total of 40 working days (20 + 20 days). The internship may be completed in two separate periods or as a continuous placement, starting with a minimum of 20 working days at the end of the first year, at the end of the second year, and/or during the semester break.

Internship Application Process

All compulsory and voluntary internship applications must be submitted through the Internship Management System (IMS). 
Comprehensive information regarding the internship process can be found on the website of the Career Guidance Center, which operates under the Office of the Dean of Students at Izmir University of Economics. 

All procedures described in the Application Guide must be completed at least two weeks prior to the internship start date. Internship applications and supporting documents submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

Application Steps:

1. Completion of Application Form: Students must accurately and completely fill in required information such as student number, internship start and end dates, and internship type (compulsory/voluntary).
2. Approval of Career Guidance Center: After submission, the application is reviewed and approved/rejected by the Career Guidance Center.
3. Institution Approval: Approval from the internship institution is required. An SMS and email are automatically sent to the institution for digital approval via the system. If the institution does not use the digital platform or messages are not delivered due to security systems, and no action is taken within 3 days, the internship acceptance form must be downloaded as a PDF, signed and stamped by the institution, and uploaded to the system.
4. Certificate of Eligibility and SGK Employment Notification: Students must obtain their Certificate of Eligibility via e-Government (e-Devlet) and upload their SGK employment entry declaration to the system.
5. IUE Internship Commission Approval: After obtaining approvals from the Career Guidance Center and the institution, students must wait for approval from their assigned internship supervisor.

Compulsory internship applications must be completed at least 15 days prior to the internship start date.

Procedures After Completion of Internship

Upon completion of the internship, the following documents must be submitted to the internship commission:

• Internship Acceptance Form
• Intern Evaluation Form
• Internship Site Evaluation Form
• Internship Report

Note: The Intern Evaluation Form must include the official stamp and signature of the host institution and must be submitted to the internship commission in a sealed envelope. Forms submitted without a seal and signature will not be evaluated.
