Course Objectives The aim of the course is to have knowledge about clinical biochemistry and to gain ability of doing clinical biochemistry test
Course Description The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Explain the biosafety and working rules in the clinical biochemistry laboratory.
  • Classify sample types, collection and preparation methods used in clinical biochemistry laboratory.
  • Explain how to operate the clinical biochemistry laboratory.
  • Identify carbohydrate, protein, lipid tests in patient samples.
  • Identify electrolyte and blood gase analyses.
  • Classify urine analyses.
Course Content This course include introduction to clinical biochemistry, work-flow of clinical laboratory, solutions, calculation of solution concentration, buffer solutions, tests of water- electrolyte metabolisms (analyze of sodium, potassium, chloride, magnesium) and acid-base equilibrium (blood gases), blood count, urine analysis, techniques used in clinical laboratories and tests of protein metabolism, gastrointestinal system function tests, bone metabolisms tests, follow therapeutic drug level, tumor markers, clinical enzymology, liver function tests, lipid and lipid metabolism tests, heart function tests, nitrogen and kidney function tests, urogenital system tests, analyze of body fluids, quality management in clinical laboratories
