Course Objectives It is aimed to teach what needs to be done in order to meet the physical and mental needs of the elderly patient in the terminal period and to apply her care in the best way.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Define the concepts related to the terminal period (terminal period, hospice, palliative care etc.).
  • Explain the basic, physiological, psychological and social needs of the elderly in the terminal period.
  • Manage the symptoms seen in the terminal patient.
  • Define findings of death and explain post-mortem care.
  • Define problems they experience by describing the reactions seen in terminal patients and their relatives.
Course Description This course includes the history of palliative care, palliative care system in Turkey, the basic requirements of elderly patients in terminal period, syndromes during this period, the mourning process and the issues will be how to support the family in this process.
