Course Objectives It is aimed to convey the importance of aging and changes due to aging and the quality of life of elderly individuals to students.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Explain the importance of quality of life, healthy and active aging and nutrition in old age in elderly individuals.
  • Evaluate the elderly individual by explaining the factors affecting aging and how to prevent premature aging.
  • Interpret the general care of the elderly, abuse and neglect of the elderly.
  • Evaluate national and international old age policies, associations, institutions, organizations and activities related to the elderly.
  • Explain the laws and regulations regarding the elderly population in Turkey.
Course Description It covers the reasons for the increase in the elderly population, the demographic data about aging in Turkey and in the world and giving basic information in the field of gerontology. In addition, it aims to raise awareness of students about these issues and develop solutions by addressing sociological problems such as physiological and ethical issues in the old age.
