Course Objectives The aim of this course is to teach students personal hygiene,behaviors that need to be consider in elderly care ,methods of using medication when it is necessary , wound care and nutritional needs of the elderly
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Define the needs and problems of the elderly individuals
  • Define health team members and the importance of teamwork.
  • Explain the concepts of aging and old age.
  • Define asepsis and antisepsis.
  • Apply basic skills related to elderly care under supervision. (Can measure and record vital signs, care for the elderly at the bedside, care for decubitus ulcers and wound care, administer oral and parenteral drugs, give and evaluate comfortable lying positions for the elderly, make and interpret hot and cold applications, meet the nutritional needs of the elderly, oral route and will be able to apply gavage feeding.)
  • Explain the basic rules of elderly care.
Course Description It is a course in which the basic concepts of elderly care are explained and how to meet the self-care needs of the elderly individuals. In addition, it enables the student to determine the physiological needs of the elderly.
