Course Objectives The aim of this course is to gain knowledge about the occurrence of infection, the structures of microorganisms causing infections and common infections, to acquire knowledge and skills in protecting themselves and the environment from infectious diseases and to learn disinfection and sterilization procedures.
Course Description The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Describe infection occurrence, identify the signs and symptoms.
  • Describe the types of microorganisms that cause infections.
  • Explain the infections according to the route of transmissions.
  • Describe hospital and community-acquired infections.
  • Explain the appropriate method and the manner of application to clean, disinfect and sterilize of infected surfaces, materials and tissues.
  • Describe appropriate personal protection procedures against the infection.
Course Content This course includes the occurence of infectious diseases, types of infections according to their transmission routes and their examples, sterilization, disinfection and personal protection procedures.
