Course Objectives The aim of this course is to learn knowledge about the sterilization and disinfection terms and to acquire knowledge about sterilization and disinfection methods.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Describe the sterilization and disinfection.
  • Classify the sterilization methods.
  • Classify the disinfection methods.
  • Describe antisepsis and decontamination.
  • Explain the parts and operation of central sterilization units.
  • Discuss the sterilization control and the international standards.
  • Discuss the medical waste management.
Course Description This course includes the sterilization and disinfection methods, the central sterilization units and their operations, the control of sterilization and the international standards related to sterilization control, hospital-acquired infections and the medical waste management.
