Course Objectives The aim of this course is to gain adequate knowledge and skills about microbiology and its history, groups of microorganisms and their properties, microbial flora, sterilization-disinfection, genetics and metabolism of microorganisms, instruments used in a microbiology laboratory, preparation and dyeing methods of a preparate, methods of inoculation, properties of colony, antibiotic sensitivity tests, evaluation of clinic samples according to systems.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Identify group and properties of microorganisms.
  • Explain microbial flora and its properties.
  • Explain sterilization-disinfection methods.
  • Explain microscopy, direct examination, preparation of slides and coloring methods.
  • Explain culture media, inoculation methods and colony morphology.
  • Explain antibiotic susceptibility tests.
  • Explain suitable sampling, reasons of disqualifications, sending samples to laboratory.
Course Description This course is including cell types and properties, viruses, fungi, bacterias, microbiology laboratory process, suitable samples-reasons of disqualifications, culture in medium, preparation and examination of direct and coloring slides, growth, antibiotic susceptibility tests, sterilization-disinfection topics, evaluation of clinic samples according to systems.
